Iron ore pelletization and beneficiation process

Iron ore pelletization is a process in which iron ore is concentrated, mixed with a binder and formed into pellets. The pellets are then heated to a temperature of about 1200°C to harden them and make them more durable. The process is used to produce iron ore pellets that can be used in blast furnaces to produce steel.

The beneficiation process involves the removal of impurities from the iron ore. This is done by crushing the ore into small pieces and then washing it with water to remove the impurities. The impurities are then separated from the iron ore using magnetic separators. The resulting concentrate is then dried and sent to a pelletizing plant.

The pelletizing plant mixes the concentrate with a binder and forms it into pellets. The pellets are then heated in a furnace to harden them and make them more durable. The pellets are then cooled and screened to ensure that they meet the required size and quality specifications.

The pellets are then shipped to steel mills where they are used in blast furnaces to produce steel. The use of iron ore pellets in blast furnaces reduces the amount of coke and other fossil fuels needed to produce steel, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions and helps to protect the environment.
