Lithium ore from mines is lumpy. The maximum size of ore blocks from open pit mining is 1000mm~1500mm, and the maximum size of ore blocks from underground mining is 300mm~600mm. The ore with such a large lumpiness cannot be sorted directly, because the lithium ore in it is closely symbiosis with gangue minerals. In order to separate them from each other, that is, to achieve monomer separation, lithium ore is sent to the separation plant, the ore is first crushed to a certain size, and then sent to the mill grinding. The type of crusher used in lithium ore concentrator mainly depends on the ore properties, the production capacity of the concentrator and the particle size of the crushing products. The coarse crushing operation of ore generally adopts jaw crusher or gyratory crusher. Medium crushing and fine crushing use standard and short head cone crusher, in a few cases, there is also the use of roll crusher crushing. To deal with soft ore (such as clay ore or coal mine), crusher with impact effect (such as impact crusher and hammer crusher) is generally used for crushing.

Loose lithium ore is divided into different particle grades through the sieve process, known as screening in lithium ore concentrator, screening is mostly combined with crushing operation. Before lithium ore enters a certain section of the crusher, the pre-separation of qualified products whose particle size has met the requirements is called pre-screening. It can not only prevent the over crushing of lithium ore, but also high productivity of crusher. When the ore contains high moisture and more powder ore, it can also avoid the blockage of the crusher. When the ore is broken by the crusher, the application of screening to check the particle size of the broken product, so that the unqualified large ore particles are returned to the crushing operation, again broken, this screening is called inspection screening. It can give full play to the crusher’s capacity.

Grinding is the continuation of the crushing process of lithium ore, its purpose is to make all or most of the useful mineral particles in the ore reach monomer separation, so as to carry out separation, and make its particle size meet the requirements of separation operation. Lithium mining operations are usually carried out in a cylindrical mill with a grinding medium, such as steel balls, steel rods or gravel. The steel ball (or iron ball) grinding machine is the ball mill; Steel rod for rod mill; The gravel is loaded by a gravel mill. If there is no other medium in the mill, only the use of ore grinding, it is called mediumless mill or self-grinding machine; Autogenous mill and add the right amount of steel ball to form the so-called semi-autogenous mill. The specifications of the mill are expressed as the diameter of the cylinder multiplied by the length. Lithium grinding operation is mainly wet grinding, and generally with mechanical classifier closed cycle.
